I-25 / Arapahoe Road Interchange
Environmental Assessment
Announcement
FHWA and CDOT approved the Finding of No Significant Impact in February 2013
An Environmental Assessment (EA) was prepared under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to evaluate reasonable alternatives for the I-25/Arapahoe Road interchange. The EA identified a preferred alternative, the Improved Partial Cloverleaf Interchange, which will be eligible for funding and future construction. This process included documentation of previously considered alternatives, re-evaluation of the reasonable alternatives from the previous Arapahoe Road Corridor Study (and System Level Feasibility Study) and evaluation of newly suggested reasonable alternatives. Evaluation was based on the purpose and need for improvements and included investigation of traffic, community and environmental impacts. After considering comments received on the EA, CDOT and FHWA concluded this NEPA process with a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). Local agency staff and elected officials are working together to develop a financial plan to fund the recommended improvements.
